England Hockey Single Pathway

Redland UWE Ladies Hockey Club is committed to following the England Hockey Single System Pathway as detailed below:

alt

As young players progress through playing Hockey within their club or school, the next step on the player pathway would be to attend a Junior Development Centre (JDC). A JDC is a local training centre for U13 to U17 age groups. JDCs are open to any hockey player who has been nominated by their club, school or coach.

A coach or teacher can nominate a player to attend an assessment for a JDC if and when they think it is appropriate for the player’s development. JDCs are run by County Hockey Associations or Hockey Development Groups, who appoint coaches and managers/administrators to organise and run all activity.

The manager/administrator will be the main contact regarding nominations, dates and times of the sessions and the coaches will be responsible for the training and competition. From a JDC, players can progress into Junior Academy Centre’s (JACs) and then into Junior Regional Performance Centre’s (JRPCs). Ultimately, the England U16 and England U18 squads are selected from players who attend JRPC’s.
