Junior report – April 2018

The second half of the 2017/18 season has brought many successes – most notably the U14 squad progressing to the semi-final of the Avon League Plate competition on Sunday 29th April. They continued their winning ways since Christmas with wins against Corsham 2-0, Thornbury 1-0, Westbury 6-1 and Winscombe 5-1. They have played so well as a team and have scored a good number of goals. Good luck to the squad on Sunday.

Under 10s

The U10s have also had a great season with many talented players coming through. They only had one Avon League festival after Christmas as the weather put pay to the other attempts. They remained unbeaten on 4th February with a 5-1 win over Westbury, a 1-0 win over Yate and two 1-1 draws against Corsham and Bath Buccs. Well done to the squad.

Under 12s

The U12s had a tough season, struggling against teams with some very strong boys. They always played with grit and determination and were never intimidated by the boys. This team forms the building blocks for progress into the U14 side and we have some very good girls going through this system.

They had some narrow 0-1 losses to Bath Buccs B and Westbury. They lost 0-2 to Chippenham and Bath Buccs B but beat Thornbury 2-1 and Clifton Robinsons B 1-0. As long as the girls keep working hard and trying their best we can’t ask any more.

County Development

We have a number of girls training in the County development system:-

Ella Ferris, Annabel Nichols, Phoebe Stafford, Becca Hinkins and Lottie Coles in the U14s.

Katherine Brighton, Helena Barraclough, Maddie Harvey and Dani Valzquez in the U15s.

Laura Price in the U16s and Jasmine Davis in the U17s.

Good luck to the above girls.

Also, very pleasingly, we have a lot of juniors playing in the senior teams and the 4th team is made up mainly of juniors, which is great experience for them. With half a season of senior experience behind them we hope for a bit more success with results next season.
